Polish-language Linguist Agent

At the European Commission in Luxembourg

Job description

Unit DGT.B.1.PL.2 - Polish-language unit 2 in Luxembourg is seeking to hire a linguistic agent who will join a dynamic and welcoming team as a member of the secretariat, playing a key role in supporting the unit’s day-to-day operations. The position will consist of processing efficiently the daily workflow of incoming and outgoing documents (i.e. originals and translations).

From a linguistic perspective, the agent will support the unit by ensuring the accuracy and consistency of documentation. This may include performing preliminary linguistic checks, final technical checks, assisting with terminology queries. A part of the translation work is outsourced, and this involves different workflows, IT applications and processes.

The job requires constant communication with colleagues within the unit, other colleagues within DGT, the requesters (in other directorates) and external stakeholders (such as DGT's contractors). We are looking for a dynamic and motivated candidate with an excellent command of written and spoken Polish. A good command of English is crucial for professional communication outside the unit, and for efficient use of the IT tools. Knowledge of French or German would be an asset.

The ideal candidate will be IT-proficient and eager to learn new IT tools, well-organised, accurate, and have a strong eye for detail. Experience in administrative support, in particular in the field of translation, will be an advantage. Excellent communication skills are essential. You should be a committed team player but also be able to work autonomously and under pressure when needed.
