4th International Conference on Multilingual digital terminology today

Design, representation formats and management systems

Event description

The professional responsible for designing and populating terminological resources is the terminographer. Producing new terminological resources requires eclectic research skills. The design and implementation phases involve a thorough preliminary analysis of the information needs of the potential user and an accurate assessment of the structural requirements of the resource.

At the same time, the use of ontologies and knowledge graphs is becoming increasingly important in terminology management, particularly with the integration of advanced Machine Learning (ML) and Large Language Models (LLMs). These tools contribute to more structured, interconnected, and contextually aware management of terms and concepts within specific domains, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of how terms are collected, organized, and maintained.

In this context, the fourth international conference on “Digital terminology today. Design, representation formats and management systems” aims to bring together specialists in the disciplines of terminology, terminography, computational terminology, specialized lexicography, computational linguistics, Machine Learning, NLP and Knowledge Representation in order to share methodological reflections on design approaches, representation formats and management systems of the digital terminology collected in the terminological resources.

In particular, the conference is organized around the following areas:

  • Analysis of the information needs of the future user of the resource;
  • Assessment of structural design approaches for terminological data collections;
  • Study of terminological metadata and data representation formats;
  • Methods of validating the ergonomics of a resource;
  • Methods for populating a resource.

The provisional agenda of the conference is:

  • December 20, 2024: deadline for submitting paper proposals
  • February 15, 2025: notification to the authors
  • March 25, 2025: deadline for submitting the camera-ready version of the paper
  • April 5, 2025: publication of provisional program
