Recently, we have seen an increasing trend in the use of prepared speeches for interventions at all kinds of meetings. Prepared and read-out speeches pose a challenge to the work of interpreters primarily because of the speed and density of interventions in this type of situation. In light of this, colleagues from SCIC awareness raising have recorded a video with advice for speechwriters and those drafting interventions. The activities carried out during the awareness-raising sessions also include recommendations for speakers who choose to read out a speech. However, awareness raising needs to start earlier in the process and provide advice for the people drafting these texts to help facilitate better communication. The video is part of an initiative for the upcoming Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, hence the reason why it is only available in Spanish for the moment. We hope you will enjoy it and find it useful.
