In 2021, DG SCIC organised a virtual interpreter training course for participants from Mongolia with the overall objective to increase the interpreting capacity of professional freelance interpreters available in the country. The course has to be seen in the broader context of EU-Mongolia relations and will be organized in cooperation with the European Union Delegation to Mongolia.
Making available an additional number of well-trained interpreters in Mongolia would indeed help the EU Delegation cope with the increasing number of visits and meetings in Ulaanbaatar since its establishment in 2017 and thus contribute to better communication and more effective cooperation with our Mongolian partners.
It was the second training course of its kind for Mongolia, the first one was organised in 2015 in preparation of the 11th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit held in Mongolia in July 2016.
