FH New Directions Lecture Series
Event description
Task-based language teaching, which promotes language acquisition through authentic, meaning-focused tasks, remains central to contemporary L2 pedagogy. This talk traces the evolving role of technology in TBLT, from established tools in computer-mediated communication (CMC) to emerging innovations such as virtual reality (VR) and generative artificial intelligence (AI).
Drawing on findings from recent and ongoing research, the presentation examines how these technologies influence task design, learner engagement, and L2 oral production. It incorporates perspectives from both learners and teachers, highlighting perceived benefits alongside challenges such as pedagogical readiness and the need for contextual adaptation. The session concludes with research-informed recommendations for the sustainable integration of both current and emerging technologies in TBLT contexts.
Presented in English and accessible both in person and via Zoom.
