Biography

DPSI Law qualified interpreter with 18 years experience. I have been teaching the DPSI preparatory courses since 2000 and trained the interpreters registered with the Home Office (UK) between 2002 and 2006. I took the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) Portuguese/English Law and Diploma in Translation English <> Portuguese exams through the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) in 1998 and 2001 respectively. I am a qualified Paralegal/Legal Secretary, and I worked as a legal secretary for several years in Portugal. I am also a Freelance Translator English <> Portuguese (Legal, Technical & General fields), experienced telephone interpreter, Police & Court Interpreter in the South East of England, and the author & publisher of the Glossary for Public Service Interpreters (now available in 11 languages). Founder of DPSI Online in 2009, I have been teaching the Community Interpreting courses, the DPSI Portuguese (Law & Health), the Rare Languages course as well as the DipTrans Online EN<>Portuguese. The community interpreting courses are accredited by One Awards and TQUK, and I am on the CIoL list of recognised course providers to teach the DPSI courses. I am registered on the NRPSI, I am a member of the CIoL, Critical Link and the President of ACIS – Association of Community Interpreters.
