Job description
The Council of the European Union is opening a call for expressions of interest for Irish-language linguists. The Council would like to hear from you if you are passionate about the Irish language and are committed to the European project.
At the Translation Service (LING) of the General Secretariat of the Council (GSC), they champion multilingualism as a core European value. The mission is to provide timely and high-quality language services in the 24 official EU languages, facilitating cross-cultural communication and playing a vital role in the European decision-making process. They foster a collaborative, inclusive culture where every staff member is encouraged to contribute to the shared success.
The GSC organises and ensures the coherence of the Council’s work and the implementation of its 18-month programme. In summary, the GSC plays a vital role in ensuring effective functioning and coordination within the EU's decision-making bodies.
They are offering a great opportunity to launch or advance your career as a linguist at the heart of the European decision-making process. Your tasks will include translation, revision, the production of Irish-language originals, terminology research and the provision of other language services. You will translate essential documents for the various configurations of the Council of the European Union and the European Council and content related to communication with the public.
