Job description
Unit C.3.SL.1, based in Luxembourg, is one of the two Slovenian translation units within the Slovenian language community of the Department for Hungarian and Slovenian language of the European Commission's Directorate General for Translation (DGT).
The job consists of linguistic administrative tasks in translation management in DGT, using internal IT systems, tasks related to the treatment of translations (pre-processing and post-processing), quality assurance, documentary research, terminology support as well as more traditional secretarial administrative tasks using MS Outlook, M365 Apps, and internal DGT software. The role requires regular communication with colleagues within the Unit, other DGT teams (such as the planning or outsourcing unit), and requesters from other Commission departments.
You will join a dynamic Unit in Luxemburg and have the opportunity to contribute to shaping this key position in the Unit. The Unit is looking for a person with an excellent command of Slovenian language (mother tongue level) and good communication skills, who is proactive, perceptive, and service-minded. You will be working as part of a small team of assistants, and in close collaboration with the larger group of translators and Head of Unit. You should be a committed team player, who is able to work autonomously and under pressure when needed.
The candidate should be prepared to adapt to rapidly changing environment, including change of IT environment, AI challenges and organizational changes. A very good command of English is indispensable for daily office work and professional contacts outside the Unit. Knowledge of French would be an asset. You should possess strong IT skills and eagerness to learn new IT tools. Knowledge of SDL Studio is an advantage.
