Practical material for Interpreter Trainers

Dear Guillermo, thank you for your active contribution. I'm sure other students might have things to add, in which case I would suggest you ask a question like this on the forum - I'm sure you will get interesting feedback there. I see this community as one for interpreter trainers who will compile useful training material for all interpreting students at all stages, including exercises for simultaneous of course. In SCIC we believe the skills of interpreting can and should be broken down and practised separately - and that's what the kind of exercises gathered here will be aiming at. Consecutive skills should also be well developed before embarking on simultaneous. This way the challenges of simultaneous are more manageable. I hope that soon this compilation will appear on the 'static' part of the KCI and you will be able to benefit for your practice.

Dear Kathy, dear Mathew, my idea was to collect training material, exercises directly from the practising trainers, for both consec and sim. To put them in terms of levels of difficulty or progression, like in the speech repository, for ex: Consec no notes, Consec for beginners, Consec for Intermediate, Consec for Advanced. So, the trainers could post their exercises under each section. I have realised that before it got live, there were very few trainers that had access to it, so maybe now there will be more. I could think of a layout and send it over to the editorial team and then they can decide which section it should go to. Just to bear in mind that even though the initial idea is mine, to implement it, I need the input of the other trainers:)

That's an interesting suggestion Matthew. I would also like to revise the different PA modules that we have, draft model lesson plans, a list of exercises and why not, also good SR speeches for that level. Certainly something to think about.
